After this very successful first year of Softball, the
Belfast Brawlers invited a few teams to Belfast for an end of season
tournament (the BEST Blitz). This was mainly organised to put Belfast on the map
in the Softball community and to provide the Softball enthusiasts
in Belfast with some competition on their home turf.
4 Teams from all over Ireland were invited to the Malone
playing field for Saturday 29th of September to join the two Belfast teams; the
Belfast Brawlers and the Smokin' Aces. The teams were, from Dublin; Deadly Suspects and University College Dublin
team, from Galway the
Tribes and from Limerick the University of Limerick team.

Before and on the day, Carrie Trundle had a lot of help in
organising the event and a big thanks goes out to all of these people, from the
club these were Maarten, Aisling, Terry, Etain and Karen. Liam Halferty, was
photographer and Carrie's right-hand man on the day and she is very grateful for
the help.
A number of people came up from Dublin to help in the event
and we are very grateful to them. In particular, Steve Trundle and Paddy Meehan
from the Packers who have supported the Brawlers from day one. Steve freely took
over the umpiring of our third diamond and was a huge help in organising the
event. Taz and Patrick Kinsella umpired the other two diamonds and kept things
running smoothly. Dave Burke and Colum Lavery were there to give both Belfast
teams a helping hand, being honorary members for the day. Hayley Hennessey was
also a great help in getting things started on the day.

The day ended as a great success with a tight final between
the Deadly Suspects and the University of Limerick teams.
We hope that all the teams had a great weekend as we all did.
We are
already looking forward to next years competition.
